If you haven’t heard already, Apple is extending their iPod trademark to include the word ‘pod’. A few companies have already been “served” by Apple legal for their pending US trademark for the word pod, which they already have in the EU.
Now if Apple is going after people who use pod in their products, what’s going to happen to certain podcasts that use it in their name?

what the hell? how can they pattent a word? pod is a word, its not like its unique or anything. are they going to start going after sifi alien movies that use the word pod?
Tell me about it!
it just seems pretty obsurd that companies can copyright a word. i mean, im suprised some big company hasnt just gone through the dictionary and copyrighted ever single word. then sued a bunch of writers or something. seems like a great plan to take over the world to me. lol
Thats why I like to rip-off Web 2.0 words for my podcasts (or ‘casts as I shall now call them, lest I be sued)
Also, I’m loving the dual sidebar.
Thats like copyrighting the word ‘it’ or something, pod is a word, and it can be used like peas in a pod or pod podcast. Hopefully, becuase apple support podcasting, they will allow the use of the word pod in peoples podcasts, btu still, pod is a word…
Nothing will happen, they’re using this as leverage against future lawsuits by companies like Creative.
The individual “podcaster” won’t be affected.
