Today marks my one-month anniversary of having my BlackBook and Apple throw out a C2D machine with a bigger HDD and double the RAM… grr, what’s funny is my mate who’s had his White MacBook for about 2 weeks now - he’s not going to be too happy either.
Oh well, I suppose this thing is still insanely fast, just not 64-bit… not that 64-bit matters in the slightest to most people anyways…
Heh. How can you be thrilled when you own the older “obsolete” version? As for me, I knew waiting would pay off, not that i’m gonna buy a new machine anytime soon, as I am quite satisfied with my own obsolete G4 15in. PB.
What I meant by not thrilled is that I wouldn’t want one of these, it’s useless to me, and my Core Duo is just fine and dandy and the fastest Mac I’ve owned :).
Are you surprised? We knew these were coming. I’m perfectly happy with my bottom of the line Whitebook…there’s always going to be a new model right around the corner. If I buy a badass Mac Pro tomorrow, It’ll be outdated in April or July or sometime with some newer model. Technology nowadays has a 6-12 month shelf life before it will be updated. Apple is in tune with that. I think before we were used to the slow PowerPC lifecycle, and now that we’re on Intel, it’s a bit different. Anyhow, enjoy the technology you have rather than complain about the latest one you don’t have.
(Acknowledgment: Yes I know this is a blog and everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I have strong rants a lot as well, just wanted to post an opinion from the other side.)
I’m not complaining, neither is he. I was just saying that It just sucks how Apple makes a new product so often that it leaves it’s already good products in the dust…over and over again. Of course they get lots of money that way, but still, really annoying. Again, I am very happy with my PB, all I complain about is not having enough money at the moment to upgrade it’s RAM.
When they put out the last revision of the PowerBooks, they left the 12-inch one unchanged except for a price-drop, that put a huge smile on my face as it left me with a Top-of-the-Line computer for 2 generations of PowerBook, the Intel switch was like a slap to the face, when should anyone ever know when the buy a computer anymore, its all a bit random these days. Whereas with PPC it was every 9 months or so then a processor update, now its like *space ship noise*
I was waiting for the 2nd version of the macbook so yesterday I ordered my new ones..
