Help Me Out on imeem!

Lil Wayne

Below the text and the image in this post is an embeded imeem.com playlist, let me explain briefly about this playlist and why it’s here, and pretty much all over my web stuff. There’s a contest run by Lil Wayne right now on imeem.com to win an iPod Touch loaded the Lil Wayne’s new album “Tha Carter III”, and to win it, you have to get people to listen to your playlist which is supposed to be a “faux mixtape” of the “best” Weezy songs, 12 of them.

So what I’m asking from you guys is to listen to the playlist, see if you like it, rate it, comment it, whatever you please.

Here’s the playlist, and if your flash component isn’t working or any extenuating reason you can’t listen to it here, you can listen to it on imeem.com.

2008 Wishlist and Goals

With it now officially being the new year, I’m not one for resolutions (such as losing weight by getting a gym membership, etc) because, in my opinion it’s just false hope for the individual with the resolution, it’s something they want to do, but just can’t. So I just take a look and think of things I’d like to do, with no guarantee they’ll happen because I know who I am and I don’t expect perfection or excellence.

So without further ado, I present my goals/things I wish to complete/have happen by the end of 2008.

* Move out of my home, get an apartment somewhere in town.
* Manage my money better, I have to start saving to have #1 happen.
* Do well enough in the last half of the school year so that I’ll be setup for success at ECC come fall.
* Do various odds and ends on my car to make it more personal to me.
* Get more of my old online presence back.

There’s probably going to be more as the year progresses, but those are the major ones for me at this moment in time. Happy 2008 everybody!

MacBook Pro

First off as most bloggers do when it’s been a while since they’ve written an entry, let me apologize for just that, not writing an entry.

Now that that’s outta the way, you may have seen (or maybe are even subscribed to) my flickr photostream recently, and if so you’ll have seen the image at the beginning of this post before. Yes, that’s right, that’s a macro shot of the words “MacBook Pro“. Now you may be thinking “Larry has a Black MacBook, why would he take a picture of this?” well also if you’ve been looking at my photostream you’ll notice I put exactly why I had those pictures.

Basically all you need to know is milk got spilt into my BlackBook and fried it, so I got this as a replacement/upgrade, which is nice because it’ll handle Leopard a lot better.

Let me sum up the story, I was eating breakfast before school on Monday, like I do every day I have school, which was a bowl of cereal, and at the same time I happened to be working in CS3. Well I went to go reach for my keyboard to go type something, and my bowl of cereal was in between my arms, and I bumped it and some milk splashed out and hit my MacBook’s keyboard, immediately shutting the machine off. So I did what I heard you’re supposed to, take out all cords, battery, and flip the machine upside down and let it dry, which in the long run (2 days) worked fine.

The MacBook turns on and runs, but a majority of the left side of the keyboard is stuck down once you press a key, and the power adapter is being wonky when it’s plugged into the laptop, and obviously I can’t run off battery forever. So, with Leopard coming in November, my MacBook being almost paid off, I figured I should just upgrade and salvage what I could off the old laptop. While I was at work my mom ran out for me and got me the stock 15″ 2.2GHz MacBook Pro.

I came home, set it up, transferred all the data I could, now I’m up and running (minus installing my printer). So expect a review maybe this weekend or in the near future.

Initial iPhone Impressions

Apple’s new iPhone

Well, if you didn’t know Doug (Co-Host of PreviewCast) went to his Apple Store for the iPhone launch and recorded two episodes, but sadly he didn’t get to use an iPhone as of this writing.

I on the other hand, didn’t attend the launch but I did get to use the device yesterday after dropping my girlfriend off at her house, and well all I can say is that I’m in love. I sat in the store for damn near a half hour playing with all the features of the iPhone, taking my time with each one, and I even made a call with it (at least in our store, all the phones are active), so I’ve pretty much given the phone a top to bottom inspection (or side to side if you’re holding it landscape haha).

I’m not gonna go over every feature, I’m just going to talk about my favorite feature, which may surprise most of you - SMS Messaging.

I love the SMS on the iPhone, I text every single day wether it’s my girlfriend, to make plans with friends or to (once and a while) track a flight for somebody that I’m waiting to leave or come in. I love how the iPhone turns it into an iChat conversation, it’s so much easier for me to follow what I’ve said and who I’m texting. The keyboard has been covered on a number of other tech sites and blogs, but I think it’s the best thing in a while, that’s not to say that I haven’t made errors (curse you fat fingers), but otherwise it’s quite easy to type on.

Something that really impressed me and surprised me at the same time, is while I was searching through the settings on the iPhone I sent it a text from my phone, thinking it would take me out of the settings application and back to my conversation, which I wouldn’t like, but instead it dims the screen and prompts you if you want to go straight to SMS or if you want to ignore it for now and continue what you’re doing.

Am I Gonna Get It?

Well, will I get one? The answer isn’t confirmed yet, I WANT one, but it’s gonna be hard for me to drop my Verizon contract which I’ve been with for at least 4 years now, for a network with worse coverage in my area, and for me to drop that amount of money on a phone and contract.

The Price is Right - Bob’s End

The Price is Right

I don’t know about you, but The Price is Right played a HUGE role in my childhood, everyday I would be dropped off at my Grandmother and Aunt’s house when my mom would leave for work and be left there for the day, to watch TV and sit in the living room, I always started my day with some random talk show at 9AM, move on to nothing at 10AM, and when 11AM rolled around we all agreed that it was time for The Price is Right!

Every single day I’d always watch The Price is Right, I’d get so into the games, I’d be yelling at contestants when I thought they made a wrong move in a pricing game, it was just insane I loved it.

Today was the air date of Bob Barker’s last filmed episode of Price, which aired at it’s usual 11AM timeslot and again at 8PM tonight, I missed the second half today due to a final exam I had at 11:45 so I watched the whole episode again when it aired at 8PM and I must say, as weird as this sounds I felt like Bob symbolized my childhood and now that he’s retiring it will never be the same. Most children/teenagers know it’s like an unwritten rule if you’re “sick” or you skipped school that you have to watch The Price is Right, which I always did whenever I was home from school.

Granted nobody can replace a man like Bob who was on the show for all 35 years, and a total of 50 years in television on various shows, Price will never be the same once they find his replacement at the end of the summer for the season premiere.

From the bottom of my heart Bob you will be truly missed, you were and always will be the face/voice/personality of The Price is Right, and nobody can fill those shoes!
