Participating in Shutdown Day

shutdownday.org

I’ll be participating in Shutdown Day tomorrow, so my MacBook is about to be shut down until Sunday morning, I suggest you do the same, because hey, us “geeks” need to get out in the real world sometimes as well.

See you all on Sunday, so if you need me, send me a txt on my phone (716) 597-7057 or zip me an email and I’ll answer it Sunday.

Thanks!

I couldn’t do it, it’s 1PM and I kept myself as busy as I possibly could, got up around 11 after watching TV, showered, shaved, vacuumed, dusted, etc and to top it off, my friend had to cancel our plans due to some family issues, so I wouldn’t have had anything to do anyways, oh well, there’s always next year.

Email read on Diggnation Episode 86!

Digg

[UPDATE]: I now have the video clip.

This morning I woke up to an IM that read “your email was read on Diggnation!”. At first I was like, “couldn’t have been, I’ve sent a ton of emails to Kevin and Alex” - well I went straight to Revision3’s website and low and behold there was the new episode (audio only) of Diggnation, so I sat down, loaded it (I prefer the video version), and skipped to the ads (GoDaddy and Cachefly), and wham there was Alex Albrecht saying my name and reading the email I had sent regarding a friend of mine and the Virgin America Airlines episode.

They also talked about my blog - sort of a free plug (which Alex, I wholeheartedly appreciate, thanks).

So, once the video version comes out I’ll be downloading that right away just to see them talk about my email, but until then, here’s the clip from the audio version!

Happy Holidays!

As you can see the normal theme has disappeared, and that’s because coming next week and over the holiday I’ll have some time off of school to hopefully work on a new theme/modification of K2.

More coming soon.

Leah Culver interview!

Leah Culver's MacBook Pro

If you haven’t seen it on digg already or read about it on Leah’s website, Leah Culver is a 24 year old female who has come up with a brilliant idea! To pay for a new laptop to replace her aging 6 year old G3 iMac (nicknamed “Banquo”) she setup a website to take advertisements from whoever had the money to be laser etched into her new machine.

Working for Instructables part of Squid Labs she had access to the laser etching machine at Squid Labs to actually use for the etching of her brand new C2D MBP. I read about the story on digg and quickly zipped Leah off an email to have her on my podcast, PreviewCast, and to my amazement she responded that she’d love to, so we setup a date for yesterday (Sunday) and she co-hosted and was a special guest on Episode 14 (yet to be released).

I must say I enjoyed her company, she was a great participant, and she seemed to really enjoy herself. The episode will hopefully be released soon, so hold tight but until then you can visit Leah’s webpage and read up over there, and she also told us on the episode and I just IM’d her she’ll be updating the website in the near future so stay tuned!

AMG turns 2!

Yuppers that’s right, today, October 23rd 2006 is the 2nd year that I’ve had amacgenius.com online. The blog first started on October 23rd, 2004 - powered by pMachine and a shitty design, filled with emotional ramblings and postings about the “Mac web”.

In June of 2005, I moved the blog to Wordpress and have been using that installation ever since, (view the first post) and I’ve been loving it! I think the blog has evolved a lot in it’s 2 years around, and I think I’ve improved myself as a writer and learned to see things in a multitude of ways.

Here’s the current statistics thanks to WP’s admin panel:

There are currently 333 posts and 1,656 comments, contained within 14 categories.

That’s quite impressive, here’s to another 333 posts!
