UPDATE: Repair is now in progress at Apple’s repair center!

Ok, I’m so happy right now, it’s unbelievable. The story starts in this thread on MacNN.
SOLD iBook G3 900 12″ iBook. Notebook boots but has no video. Make an offer.
I made an offer of $50 + shipping and he accepted and I paid. The iBook arrived yesterday and just as described, it boots but no video, so as I always do with stuff like this I take it to the Apple Store to see if I can get them to service it, well something bad happened while at the genius bar.
The notebook was handed to the genius, he hit the power button and *boom* the video worked at this point I was like “wtf!?” so then he did an Apple Hardware Test and everything passed. So he let it sit for a while to see if the screen would go blank again, and it didn’t so he gave me a case # etc, and sent me on my way and if it happened again to come back with that card and give it to the genius on staff.
Well, no sooner did we get to the van out in the parking lot, I opened the iBook to look around (I bought it used, so the person’s files were still on it), and low and behold, the screen flickers, then it does it again then when it stopped the machine had frozen.
So skoker and I went right back into the mall to the store, and said “we’re baaaack” and he looked around again, tipping the machine all over, etc then suddenly this came out of his mouth.
“The iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program is over, but I can make an exception today…”
This means my iBook that I paid $50 for, that is in physically great condition is going to be repaired by Apple free of charge under that program.

Needless to say I’m fucking amazed and lucky at the same time, once the iBook is repaired I have a perfect functioning PPC machine that the only thing it needs is a RAM upgrade and an Airport Card.
Eventhough he’s not obviously reading this, I want to extend my thanks to Rob Imbs (the genius who did this), and to my bud Matt Skok who did most of the sweet talking to get Rob to finally put this machine in under the program.
Thanks!

It’s about damn time Larry!

Well a few things are new, I’m back from camping, had fun but my bike pedal and crank on the left side fell off while I was riding around the campground so that sucked but anyways.
Do any of you who regularly read my blog remember PreviewCast? Well it’s back - after Doug and I split in November 2005, we decided almost a year after the first PreviewCast (July 2005), that we should resume our podcasting ways, now that we both have new Intel Macs, Garageband 3, better mics, more topics, etc. So PreviewCast has returned along with a new site look and is now powered by Wordpress.
So, go check out the site or cut the middle man and subscribe in iTunes!
I’m going camping once again this weekend and by the time you read this entry I’ll already be at the campground. But if you need me you can either call my cell phone (716-597-7057) or email my cellphone (which sends me a txt message I can reply to) at 7165977057@vtext.com - otherwise I’m gonna be gone!
Enjoy your weekends!
